Dark Lane Cemetery and the land it sits in was acquired by the Parish Council in the 1940's. Since then a Chapel of Rest has been built, as well benches and floral displays installed.

Adjoining the main Cemetery ground is Whistle Wood, this area was planted in the 1980's using saplings from the Forestry Commission. The Wood is now well established, encouraging a range of wildlife and plants to add to the peaceful surroundings. Woodland burials are also possible on the site as it is Consecrated Ground.

The Cemetery and Woods are open for the community to walk in at anytime. The site has recently been awarded a BRAMM Bronze Standard Cemetery Award for 2026.

The Parish Council Maintenance Team take great pride in keeping this area in a very good condition for all those who visit. We ask that ornaments and surrounds are kept to a minimum to help with the maintenance to all graves, we hope people understand the reasons for these requests.
